Ahhhh… What would it be like to look the 20-years younger that you actually feel? Well, thanks to Botox this is possible. So many of us want to see a smoother, younger-looking face when they look in the mirror and that’s where I come in. For more than a decade, I have trained with some of the world’s preeminent doctors in the administration of chemical injections, like Botox. As a board-certified Anti-Aging Health Practitioner, there are a few important things to contemplate when considering facial rejuvenation.
First, when administered by a reputable medical provider and skin rejuvenation specialist, Botox is safe. It is the first and only FDA-approved treatment to temporarily make moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines look better in adults, since 2002. Botox has also been approved for multiple health disorders, such as migraines, urinary incontinence, involuntary muscle contractions, and more.
For most patients, Botox is more preventative than restorative. Its active ingredient actually reduces the facial muscle activity that caused the frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in the first place. This allows the lines around the muscles to relax and smooth out. So you look like you, only with fewer noticeable facial lines. The fact that Botox relaxes the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling and raising the eyebrows is what makes is appealing to younger people. When using Botox from an earlier age, you are preventing the repetitive movements that create facial lines over time.
It’s also important to realize that Botox treatments are temporary, lasting anywhere from three to six months, depending on personal factors. People who exercise a lot or are more expressive are at the lower end of that scale. Plus, after Botox is administered, there is a short recovery time. You will need to take it easy for a day or so, refraining from exercise, bending forward, or lying down for a few hours. Additionally, while the treatments are not entirely pain-free, you also cannot use ibuprofen, or any other blood-thinning medications, because it could increase bruising at the injection sites.
The last and best thing about Botox is its affordability. Compared to dermal fillers, Botox is about one-third of the price. Because of this, it is widely utilized. So many of us are eating better, exercising, and taking better care of ourselves; there is absolutely no shame in wanting our faces to look the part too!
